You have been showing up for everyone else for a long time.
This is for you.
Alkemi Retreats was built for women of the African and Caribbean diaspora who are ready to travel differently. To experience the true culture, living history and indigenous knowledge of the places that hold their story, in genuine partnership with the communities who call them home. To rest without guilt. To reconnect with themselves. And to do all of it in the company of women who understand without explanation.
Who is this for
Alkemi is for the woman who has built something significant and somewhere along the way gradually lost the thread back to herself. She is done with travel that skims the surface and with wellness spaces that were never really designed with her in mind. She wants to go somewhere that holds her ancestry, sit with the communities who live there, and experience the true culture and living history of the African and Caribbean world in a way that most travel never reaches. She wants to laugh, to rest, to explore and to do it surrounded by women who get it.
If that is you, you are in the right place.

UPCOMING RETREATS
UPCOMING RETREATS
A small number of retreats take place each year - each one carefully prepared, deliberately paced and limited by design.
KENYA
Culture, Community and Kenyan Coast
Kenya is a place of extraordinary depth - a country where ancient indigenous knowledge, living cultural traditions and a history far richer than its safari reputation sits alongside one of the most dynamic and creative cities on the continent. Our first retreat moves between the energy and community of Nairobi and the stillness of the Kenyan coast, where centuries of Swahili culture meet the Indian Ocean. Genuine cultural encounters, indigenous knowledge and real time to rest - woven throughout ten days designed to go well beneath the surface.

SENEGAL
Dakar • The Delta | 19 -26 January 2027
Memory and Belonging
For the African and Caribbean diaspora, Senegal carries a particular weight. It is one of West Africa's most culturally rich destinations. Home to Gorée Island, the living traditions of the Wolof people, the warmth of teranga and a history that speaks directly to our story. Centred on storytelling, weaving traditions and shared meals, this retreat explores continuity between past and present while creating space for reflection, exploration and conversation.
Launching May 2026
DOMINICA
Roseau Valley to Kalinago Territory | 13 -20 April 2027
River, Forest & Living Memory
Dominica is one of the Caribbean's most extraordinary and least touched islands — shaped by ancient rainforest, rivers and a landscape that asks you to slow down simply by existing within it. At its heart is the Kalinago Territory, home to the last surviving indigenous community of the Caribbean, whose traditions of bush medicine, weaving and oral history have endured for centuries. This retreat moves between the natural world and indigenous culture, creating space for deep rest, genuine learning and the particular stillness that only untouched landscape can offer.
Launching August 2026
Grenada
St George’s • Grand Anse | 12 - 20 October 2027
Sea & the Art of Everyday Life
Grenada is a full sensory experience - nutmeg, cocoa and spices woven into the fabric of daily life, a coastline of extraordinary colour and warmth, and a culture where tradition lives quietly within the everyday rather than being preserved behind glass. This retreat spends time in community, learning how herbal practices, food traditions and the rhythms of Grenadian life connect past to present. Alongside long coastal days shaped by sea air, good food and time that belongs entirely to you.

Meet the Founder
Alkemi was founded by Angela Nabbale - executive coach and founder of The Nabbale Practice, a coaching practice built around professional women navigating transition, identity and what comes next.
These retreats are the lived extension of that work. Built for the woman who has spent years giving everything to her career, her family and her community. Who is ready, finally, to invest in something entirely for herself. Angela built Alkemi because she lived the gap it fills - the absence of spaces that truly honour women of the diaspora, where they can rest, reconnect and show up exactly as they are without having to explain themselves. Where the company around the table understands without words. Where the destination holds their story. And where the experience goes far deeper than any holiday ever could.
Alkemi is a space built with intention, grounded in genuine relationships with local communities and a deep understanding of the women it was made for.
